How Ekiti Public Works enhances BAO's Tourism vision By Wale Ojo-Lanre Esq

How Ekiti Public Works enhances BAO's Tourism vision
By
Wale Ojo-Lanre Esq

Tourism development is an intricate process that requires not just showcasing a destination's cultural and natural attractions but also ensuring that the necessary infrastructure is in place to provide a seamless and enjoyable experience for visitors.
One key component of this infrastructure is the road network, which plays a crucial role in shaping the first impressions of tourists. The Ekiti State Public Works Corporation (ESPWC), under the leadership of its dynamic Director-General, Engineer . Wale Fagoyinbo,  has been instrumental in this regard, working tirelessly to enhance road infrastructure across the state.

https://www.facebook.com/share/v/19pASAKCm6/
On a recent tour of some of the roads being repaired by the ESPWC, especially , rehabilitation of Housing Roundabout - Prison Junction , construction of Earth-road to Erio Ekiti Farmstead and  rehabilitation of Olora Layout - Housing Roundabout  I was deeply impressed by the quality of work being executed under the directive of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. These efforts are not only a testament to the commitment of the Oyebanji administration to good governance but also an indication of the vital role infrastructure plays in boosting Ekiti State's burgeoning tourism sector.
People might be wondering why roads matter in delivering tourism deeds as if they have forgotten that when there are no good roads tourism is in danger
Good roads are needed by tourists to explore the town and feel the vibes of the town and the city .

Also first impressions, as they say, last the longest. For a tourist, the journey to a destination is just as important as the destination itself. Smooth, well-maintained roads create a positive impression and encourage repeat visits. Conversely, poorly maintained roads can deter potential visitors, no matter how attractive the tourism offering might be.

Ekiti State is rich in cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and warm hospitality, but without a reliable road network, accessing these attractions can be challenging. Roads connecting key tourist sites such as Ikogosi Warm Springs, Arinta Waterfalls, Fajuyi Memorial Park, ,Ero Dam , Hotels ,Bars ,Lounges , event centres and apartments must be prioritized to ensure that visitors can explore the state with ease.

Thus the ongoing road repair projects by ESPWC are evidence of a strategic approach to tourism development in Ekiti State. The corporation’s focus on rehabilitating major and rural roads is crucial in creating a seamless link between urban centers and remote tourism hotspots.
The visible improvement in road quality is already setting the stage for a transformative boost in tourism-related activities.

Under the stewardship of Engineer Fagoyinbo, Director - General , the ESPWC has not only enhanced mobility for residents but also strengthened Ekiti's appeal to investors and tourists alike. This aligns with Governor Oyebanji’s vision of leveraging infrastructure development as a catalyst for economic growth.

Tourism is one of the most viable sectors for economic diversification in Ekiti State. Improved road infrastructure translates to reduced travel time, increased safety, and a better overall experience for tourists. Furthermore, it boosts local economies by facilitating access to rural communities, where cultural tourism thrives.

Additionally, a robust road network enhances logistics for hotels, tour operators, and other businesses in the tourism value chain, fostering growth and resilience. These improvements position Ekiti State as a competitive player in the Nigerian tourism industry.
While the progress made by the ESPWC is laudable, it is imperative to sustain and expand these efforts. Strategic partnerships with private stakeholders and continuous investment in road maintenance will ensure that Ekiti State remains a tourist-friendly destination.

Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s administration has set the tone for excellence, and with the ESPWC leading the charge, Ekiti State is poised to reap the full benefits of its tourism potential. As the roads improve, so does the ease of exploring the state’s cultural and natural treasures, making Ekiti a must-visit destination for local and international tourists.

Indeed, first impressions matter, and Ekiti State, through its Public Works Corporation, is ensuring that every visitor’s first experience is one of admiration and comfort. The commitment to infrastructure development is a clear signal that the state  is open for tourism, investment, and unforgettable experiences.

*The Advantages of the Ekiti State International Cargo Airport*

With the certification  of this world-class facility, Ekiti is now strategically positioned to unlock numerous socio-economic benefits:

.

Ekiti’s abundant agricultural produce, including yams, cassava, cocoa, and palm oil, can now reach international markets faster and more efficiently. This will provide farmers with better earnings and enhance the State's economic growth.

The airport will serve as a catalyst for job creation, directly through airport operations and indirectly through ancillary industries such as logistics, warehousing, and transportation services.

Tourism Development:

The improved accessibility to Ekiti will promote its rich cultural heritage, festivals, and natural attractions, driving the inflow of tourists and fostering economic activities in the hospitality and tourism sectors.

Businesses requiring fast and reliable transportation of goods will be drawn to the state, encouraging industrial growth and positioning Ekiti as a hub for commerce in the Southwest region.

The airport will generate significant revenue for the state through landing fees, cargo charges, and other services, thereby strengthening its internally generated revenue (IGR).

Governor Oyebanji’s bold move in ensuring the operational readiness of the cargo airport is a forward-thinking step that aligns with Ekiti’s vision for sustainable development. By fostering connectivity, attracting investments, and opening the state to global opportunities, this project will undoubtedly transform Ekiti’s economic landscape and improve the standard of living for its citizens.

Who is this Afe Babalola self ?

Who Is this Afe Babalola self ?

By Wale Ojo-Lanre Esq.

I do not wish to dwell on the brazen and calculated defamatory tirade launched by one Dele Farotimi against Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, CFR—Chairman of Emmanuel Chambers and the visionary Founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), a globally acclaimed institution. Such actions bring to mind the Yoruba proverb, "Eni ti ko ni iru eni ko le mo iyin eni," which translates as, "Only a person from a responsible background can appreciate the worth of an icon."

Aare Afe Babalola is far beyond the reach of reckless talkers who, by some accident of fortune, find themselves in noble professions or communication platforms. He is a man whose superlative intellect and diligence propelled him from humble beginnings to unparalleled greatness. From his youth, his electrifying brilliance and unshakable determination to excel have set him apart.

Early Testimony of Brilliance

Dr. Victor Omololu Sowemimo Olunloyo, one of Nigeria’s finest mathematical minds and a former Governor of Old Oyo State, testifies to Aare Babalola's genius:

"I have known Afe Babalola since 1949. Afe is extraordinarily brilliant—a genius from no aristocratic background. He has shown the world that success does not depend on who your father is. Afe was the only pupil teacher under my grandfather in Gbongan, Osun State, who could argue logically with a Government College boy. I asked my father to release him, and he did. Within eight years, Afe became a lawyer under Olayinka Ayoola."

Such is the caliber of the man that certain misguided individuals have tried to defame—a man whose name resonates with achievement, discipline, and excellence. Their defamation and character assassination are brazen in their criminality and offensive to all that Aare Babalola represents.

In the annals of Nigerian legal history, few names command the same reverence and admiration as Aare Afe Babalola. A distinguished Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), philanthropist, and nation-builder, his legacy transcends the legal profession. Through his Emmanuel Chambers, he has mentored and produced an unparalleled number of SANs—a feat only a handful of law firms can boast.

In 2010, Aare Babalola founded ABUAD, an institution that has redefined private education in Nigeria. The university's world-class facilities, innovative curriculum, and stellar faculty have made it a beacon of excellence. ABUAD embodies Babalola’s vision for a holistic educational system that promotes academic excellence alongside integrity, ethics, and social responsibility.

Babalola’s impact extends beyond education to healthcare. The Afe Babalola Multi-System Hospital, Ado Ekiti, stands as a testament to his dedication to improving lives. Equipped with cutting-edge medical technology and staffed by compassionate professionals, the hospital provides top-tier healthcare services to Nigerians.

This institution reflects his belief that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental human right, and through his philanthropy, Babalola has ensured this vision becomes a reality for many

Recognizing the importance of industrialization for economic growth, Aare Babalola initiated the Afe Babalola Industrial Zone in Ado Ekiti. This project is designed to drive economic activities, create jobs, and empower residents with valuable skills. It is yet another example of his commitment to regional and national development.

Despite his towering achievements, Aare Babalola has faced criticism and defamation, often driven by envy or petty politics. Yet, his resilience is unwavering. No amount of malicious attacks can tarnish the enduring legacy of a man whose life’s work speaks for itself.

Babalola’s approach to adversity is defined by grace and focus. He remains steadfast in his mission to improve society through education, healthcare, and industrial innovation. His achievements are his loudest response to detractors

Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, stands as a symbol of hope and a trailblazer for excellence in Nigeria. His establishments—ABUAD, the Multi-System Hospital, and the Industrial Zone—are testaments to his vision for a better society.

In a country grappling with challenges in education, healthcare, and economic development, leaders like Aare Babalola remind us of what is possible with determination, integrity, and a commitment to positive change. His life is a source of inspiration to aspiring lawyers, entrepreneurs, and nation-builders.

Aare Babalola’s rise to global recognition is not accidental; it is the result of decades of relentless effort and determination. It is only natural that he protects this legacy from being tarnished by the reckless utterances of an oniyangi (worthless fellow). Greatness deserves to be shielded, celebrated, and preserved for posterity.

True greatness is not defined by popularity but by the indelible impact one leaves on society. Aare Afe Babalola exemplifies this, and no amount of negativity can diminish his light.

He should fight for his right .
