Nura Kangiwa's Transformative Leadership at NIHOTOUR by Wale Ojo- Lanre Esq

Nura Kangiwa's Transformative Leadership at NIHOTOUR

In an era where many public institutions struggle to fulfill their mandates, Alhaji Nura Kangiwa's tenure as the Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) stands out as a shining example of what visionary leadership can achieve.

Leadership is not about mounting the minaret to celebrate the intangible acts or deeds for personal aggrandizement or ego tripping but striving hard to establish identifiable sustainable legacies which fosters national building and development

As the Director General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Alhaji Nura Kangiwa has exemplified exceptional leadership and dedication in transforming the institute into a powerhouse within the tourism sector.

His visionary approach and strategic initiatives have revitalized NIHOTOUR, setting new standards and achieving remarkable milestones that have garnered praise and recognition from industry experts and stakeholders alike.

One of Alhaji Nura Kangiwa's significant accomplishments at NIHOTOUR has been the reengineering of the institute to meet the evolving needs of the tourism industry. By introducing innovative programs and enhancing the quality of training and services, he has elevated NIHOTOUR's reputation as a leading institution for hospitality and tourism education in Nigeria.

Since assuming office, Kangiwa has ushered in a remarkable transformation at NIHOTOUR, breathing new life into the institute and positioning it as a true national asset.

One of Kangiwa's first and most significant accomplishments was the establishment of a robust legal framework for NIHOTOUR. He ensured the final passage of the NIHOTOUR bill into an act, solidifying the institute's standing and granting it the necessary autonomy to fulfill its mandate effectively.

Kangiwa's vision for NIHOTOUR extends far beyond the confines of Abuja, as he has successfully transformed it from a capital-based parastatal into a truly national outfit. This strategic move has allowed NIHOTOUR to extend its reach and impact across the country, ensuring that its vital services are accessible to all Nigerians.

Another groundbreaking initiative spearheaded by Kangiwa is the establishment of the first-ever mobile NIHOTOUR Training Center. This innovative approach has enabled the institute to bring its world-class training programs directly to the doorsteps of aspiring hospitality and tourism professionals, ensuring that no one is left behind.

Kangiwa's transformative leadership has also manifested in the launch of the Ecogenesis Incubators Program, which has already been introduced in four states. This program aims to nurture and empower entrepreneurs in the tourism and hospitality sectors, fostering innovation and creating new economic opportunities.

Additionally, Kangiwa has forged a close partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, leading the charge on the Community Tourism Project. This collaborative effort is designed to harness the rich cultural and natural resources of local communities, empowering them to become active participants in the tourism industry.

Alhaji Nura Kangiwa's tenure at NIHOTOUR has truly been a story of transformation and progress. Under his guidance, the institute has transitioned from a parlous state to a position of grace, with a renewed national outlook and a steadfast commitment to serving the needs of the Nigerian people.

Kangiwa's leadership is marked by his unwavering dedication, his resourcefulness, and his ability to focus on the national agenda rather than personal aggrandizement. He is a true asset to the nation, and his appointment is a testament to the wisdom of those who recognized his potential to lead NIHOTOUR to new heights.

As Alhaji Nura Kangiwa continues to steer NIHOTOUR towards excellence, the nation can take pride in the remarkable strides made under his stewardship. His legacy will undoubtedly inspire future generations of public servants to emulate his example of transformative leadership and service to the nation.

Wale Ojo- Lanre Esq

The Osun State Tourism Board deserves commendation for its visionary initiative in planning the 1st Ooduafest Tourism Event, scheduled to take place from July 23 to July 25, 2024, in the historic city of Osogbo. This event is a significant step towards enhancing regional integration through the potent medium of tourism, promising not only economic benefits but also fostering socio-political harmony among states.

Tourism, as a sector, holds immense potential beyond mere economic gains. It is a powerful tool for cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and the strengthening of bonds between communities. The 1st Oodua Tourism Event is poised to leverage these benefits by bringing together a diverse array of participants from various states within the region and beyond. This gathering will showcase the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and hospitality of the Yoruba people, providing an immersive experience for all attendees.

Osogbo, known for its cultural vibrancy and historical significance, is a fitting venue for this landmark event. The city is home to the UNESCO-listed Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove, an embodiment of Yoruba culture and spirituality. Hosting the Oodua Tourism Event here underscores the commitment of the Osun State Tourism Board to preserving and promoting indigenous cultural assets.

The economic implications of this event are substantial. Tourism drives local economies by creating jobs, fostering entrepreneurship, and attracting investment. By hosting the Oodua Tourism Event, Osun State is positioning itself as a key player in the tourism sector, potentially boosting local businesses and generating revenue. This initiative aligns with broader economic goals, contributing to sustainable development and poverty alleviation.

Beyond the commercial dividends, the socio-political impact of such an event cannot be overstated. In a diverse nation like Nigeria, fostering unity and understanding among different regions is crucial. The Oodua Tourism Event will serve as a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and the celebration of shared values. It will create opportunities for cross-cultural interactions, enhancing mutual respect and reducing regional tensions.

Moreover, this event will highlight the role of tourism in peace-building and diplomacy. By bringing together people from different backgrounds, it will promote a sense of common identity and collective purpose. This is particularly important in today’s world, where socio-political challenges often strain relationships between communities and states.

The Osun State Tourism Board’s initiative is a testament to its forward-thinking approach and dedication to regional development. It recognizes the multifaceted benefits of tourism and its capacity to drive both economic growth and social cohesion. By hosting the 1st Oodua Tourism Event, Osun State is not only celebrating its rich cultural heritage but also paving the way for a more integrated and harmonious region.

In conclusion, the 1st Oodua Tourism Event is a commendable endeavor that promises to make a lasting impact. The Osun State Tourism Board deserves applause for its efforts in bringing this vision to fruition. As the event draws near, it is hoped that stakeholders from all sectors will support this initiative, recognizing its potential to transform the region through the power of tourism. This event is not just a celebration of culture; it is a beacon of unity, progress, and shared prosperity.

Furthermore, it is essential to commend the Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Senator Ademola Jackson Adeleke. Like his counterpart in Ekiti State, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, Governor Adeleke has significantly fostered the growth and development of tourism within his state.

Governor Adeleke's cosmopolitan background and exposure, particularly during his time in Atlanta, Georgia—a notable tourism hub in the United States renowned for attractions such as Stone Mountain and the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park—have undoubtedly informed his keen interest in advancing Osun State's tourism sector. His understanding of the economic and socio-cultural benefits derived from robust tourism infrastructure has been instrumental in driving initiatives that showcase and celebrate Osun State's rich heritage.

This global perspective, coupled with a deep appreciation for local culture, positions Governor Adeleke as a pivotal figure in Osun State’s journey towards becoming a premier tourist destination. His leadership exemplifies how diverse experiences and insights can be harnessed to foster regional integration and sustainable development through tourism.

Awon omo ale Yoruba.jati jati ( The bastards of Yoruba)

Awon omo ale  Yoruba.jati jati ( The bastards of Yoruba)

Yes , they are Yoruba bastards

All of them

Bastards , they are!

I am not afraid to call them bastards

And if I have more stronger words

I will employ it

To describe them

I call them useless elders

Stupid and irresponsible youths

awon agba ti ko to ile

Awon omode ise

All of them

Who are not happy

At seeing what you seeing

And

Not happy that at your own  life time

You are counted worthy

To be part of history

A good one at that

Which concern the House of Oduduwa

One which is given all the Yoruba

Home and in diaspora

A pride of place

A new story to tell

That the children of Oduduwa

Are now at peace with one another

.Are you one of the Yoruba bastards  ?

Aren't you happy to be Yoruba ?

See the price of Unity

When last did you think of it

That the Owa , the Aalafin and the Ooni

Will be at peace

In their best elements

Radiating love and showcasing affection

I am happy . I am proud of being Yoruba

I am sure Oduduwa is dancing in heaven

See the beauty in unity

See our Kabiyesi in their glory

See the Owa of Ijeshaland

See my father ,iku baba yeye Aalafin of Yoruba Empire

See the Ooni of the cradle of Yoruba   Ojaja II

See the threesome  in dignified consonance

Only awon  omo ale Yoruba will not love this

And I know you are not one of them

Are you ?

Good morning

Oduduwa , o kare  lajule odun

( May the Soul of the Late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi ,Alaafin Oyo Rest In Peace)
